Winner: The SEC

Every team in the conference won in Week 1, except for LSU. Alabama and Georgia looked virtually unstoppable in Week 1, setting themselves far apart from the rest of the college football world.

The teams who were ranked in Week 1 all took care of business pretty easily. No. 19 Arkansas had a really tough matchup versus No. 23 Cincinnati, No. 20 Kentucky handled one of the best teams from the MAC, No. 21 Ole Miss showed a ton of promise with transfer quarterback Jaxson Dart, and Texas A&M pitched a shutout.

For the non-ranked teams: Florida pulled off a huge upset over No. 7 Utah, Tennessee’s run-and-gun offense is ridiculously fun to watch and hard to stop, Vandy is 2-0, Auburn, Mississippi State, and South Carolina all won by 21-plus points.

Winner: USC Trojans

It’s only one game, but the USC Trojans looked every bit as good as advertised. Head coach Lincoln Riley, quarterback Caleb Williams, and receiver Jordan Addison are going to be ridiculously fun to watch. College football fans were wondering if all of that transfer talent would be able to develop enough chemistry and set their egos aside and execute. After a 66-14 routing of Rice and recording nearly 550 yards of total offense, I think it’s going to be hard for any team to stop this Trojan offense.

Winner: Old Dominion Monarchs

The Monarchs, a Group of Five team celebrating their move into the Sun Belt, pulled off an incredible 20-17 upset over Virginia Tech on their home field in Week 1. Fans stormed the field, coaches were stuck in elevators, and items were reportedly stolen from the Virginia Tech locker room— it was a wild night, to say the least.

Old Dominion’s win over Virginia Tech marks the team’s second-ever win against a Power Five opponent. Ironically, the other win was also against the Hokies.
