SEC football power rankings for 2022’s week two

Tennessee did what they were supposed to do in their season-opener on Thursday night, beating Ball State by a score of 59-10.
Everything that one expects from a Tennessee offense, they got. The tempo was blisteringly quick. The run game used the extended receiver splits to get a numbers advantage inside.
But, there’s optimism beyond just the box score. The defense was actually solid for the most part and was able to hold the Cardinals on first and second down.
LSU looked discombobulated out in New Orleans for the first 50 minutes of their game against Florida State. Second-half touchdowns rallied them to a 24-17 deficit with two minutes remaining.
Then, the miracle drive that looked like it was gonna tie it.
Then, the blocked extra point to lose it.
Brian Kelly’s first game with the Tigers was a disappointment that nearly ended in total nirvana. Defensively they looked out of sorts, giving up 11-of-17 third-down conversions. On offense, Jayden Daniels made some nice plays during the last drive, but also never looked comfortable for most of the game.
Kentucky didn’t look crisp in their game against Miami of Ohio. The RedHawks were able to stay with the Wildcats until the second half began. Then, the Kentucky side exploded, racking up 24 second-half points to make the 37-13 win look routine.
Will Levis had some off throws, but he also made some throws into very tight windows that didn’t look to be there. However, the real star of this game had to be Tayvion Robinson, who caught six balls for 136 yards, and looks as if he’s replaced Wan’Dale Robinson as the offense’s big playmaker.
Next week, the Wildcats will head down to the Swamp to take on the Florida Gators.
