SEC football power rankings for 2022’s week two

There was nothing particularly special about the Aggies’ win over Sam Houston State. The defense played well, Haynes King made some mistakes but was ultimately okay, and A&M rolled.
If there was one thing that was electric, it was the weather, as the game was suspended for three hours at the half due to lightning. Texas A&M was up 17-0 thanks to a field goal and two King touchdown passes.
Next week, though, the Aggies will take on a much tougher foe, as Appalachian State comes in fresh off of a heartbreaking – if not terrifyingly wild – loss to North Carolina.
Dear god, we’re all in trouble.
Georgia did not just beat the 11th-ranked Oregon Ducks, the Bulldogs smacked the living daylights out of a team that many thought could contend with Utah in the Pac-12.
Nobody for Georgia looked bad. The defense still has a bunch of studs who go out and get picks like a farmer’s basket. Offensively, the sheer amount of pro-ready tight ends the Bulldogs have make for an interesting attack.
Oh, did I mention that they’ve found their Zamir White and James Cook replacements, who are running behind a line that has improved from last year?
Well, other teams will have been warned, then. Georgia’s still a masterful menace.
Utah State may have lost a lot from last year’s Mountain West championship team, but they probably expected better than losing by 55 points.
Yet, a 55-0 Crimson Tide victory is exactly what happened. The Tide scored on their first nine drives and made the Aggie trek to Tuscaloosa a horrifying and miserable experience.
Alabama outgained Utah State 559-136, and Bryce Young looked fit to defend his Heisman from last year. He had 195 yards passing to go along with 100 yards rushing and accounted for six total touchdowns.
Up next for the Tide, they go on the road to take on Texas in Austin.
