Sugar Bowl: Georgia vs. Texas

In a rematch of the 2019 Sugar Bowl, we have the Georgia Bulldogs taking on the Texas Longhorns.

You may be asking what I’m thinking, not having the Bulldogs in the CFP after such an impressive showing in their NSFW annihilation of the Oregon Ducks. While the Bulldogs looked incredible and will be in this fight to the very end, the game also said a lot about Oregon and how far they have to go.

I expect the Bulldogs to be in the top three of the rankings for the majority of the season, but there is still the inevitable rematch with Bama that will loom over everything they do this season.

While Georgia would likely be upset with a Sugar Bowl appearance, the same cannot be said for the Texas Longhorns.

I have Texas, in year two under Steve Sarkisian, making a leap past respectability, and into the NY6. Behind the dynamic duo of quarterback Quinn Ewers and Bijan Robinson, look for the Longhorns to be in contention for the Big 12 championship.

While it won’t define their season if they get crushed, I am interested to see how Texas will fare in their massive game next week against Alabama.

The last time these two met, the Bulldogs seemed disinterested and were run over by a motivated Sam Ehlinger. While this year’s version may have an even bigger talent gap, you can’t help but wonder if Georgia would mentally show up for this game. You know Sarkisian and the Texas faithful would be stoked to be in this game.
