14. Virginia Tech Hokies (0-1)

Virginia Tech’s 20-17 loss to the Old Dominion Monarchs is exactly why you don’t want to schedule a road game at a Group of Five stadium. Old Dominion had a great crowd on hand and mucked the game up, spoiling Brent Pry’s head coaching debut.

Marshall transfer Grant Wells threw four interceptions as the Hokies were shut out two quarters on their way to the upset loss. The Hokies host Boston College next weekend.

13. Boston College Eagles (0-1)

The Eagles struggled to protect quarterback Phil Jurkovec and run the football in their 22-21 loss to the Rutgers Scarlett Knights at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill this weekend. Boston College replaced three of five starters on the line this fall, which showed.

What made matters worse was the defensive line struggled, allowing 212 rushing yards and three touchdowns to the Knights. Three Eagle turnovers did not help either.

12. Louisville Cardinals (0-1)

The Louisville Cardinals were supposed to be a chaotic team in the ACC this season. They looked chaotic instead. The Syracuse defense bottled up star quarterback Malik Willis, and the Orange ran all over the Cardinals’ defense.

Willis had just 186 total yards and two turnovers. The Cardinals could not stop the Garrett Schrader/Sean Tucker combination. It gets no easier for the Cards as they travel to Orlando to take on Central Florida next week and host a hot Florida State team the week after.

11. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (0-1)

All things equal, the Yellow Jackets were not terrible against the Clemson Tigers on Labor Day. Georgia Tech struggled to block Clemson’s defensive line, allowing ten tackles for loss and two sacks. That said, Georgia Tech’s defensive line played well, sacking DJ Uiagalelei three times and allowing just three yards per rush.

The offense was a different story. It could not muster any consistency. It was apparent early that the Yellow Jackets didn’t have the players to compete with Clemson.
