Games to flip back and forth between

  • Alabama at Texas (12 p.m. on FOX)

It’s not that this is going to be a bad game, per se. It’s just that this hyping of two major historic powerhouses may be a little much, given the product that’s going to be shown on the field. Texas is still rebuilding, though it looks like Quinn Ewers may be the guy after all.

Meanwhile, Utah State head coach Blake Anderson is calling this year’s Alabama squad, “the best team I’ve ever seen in pads.”

This would be a historic upset if Texas won.

  • South Carolina at Arkansas (12 p.m. on ESPN)

Spencer Rattler’s first start with South Carolina gave us nothing new to comment about him. Of course, that’s a problem, given he was benched last season at Oklahoma. Georgia State is stiff opposition, but 6.1 yards per attempt by the Gamecock quarterback is just not good enough.

Arkansas, meanwhile, is set at the quarterback position. KJ Jefferson looks better than he did last year, and the offense in general seems to be working just fine.

It’ll be interesting to see if South Carolina can pull an upset over the eight-point favored Razorbacks.

  • Duke at Northwestern (12 p.m. on FS1)

Tickets for this game are going for just $5 on StubHub right now, which is kind of a shame because these two teams could play a very interesting football game. It won’t be the most crisply-played contest in the world, but Duke showed the world a little something by putting 500 yards up on Temple.

For Northwestern, it will be interesting if the rock-em-sock-em gameplan that stunned Nebraska works against a team that allowed no points and 179 total yards last week.

Don’t look away from this one; this game has some intrigue to it.

  • Missouri at Kansas State (12 p.m. on ESPN2)

It’s not quite the border war in terms of college football, but Kansas State has a foe coming in that could put a challenge into them during this game. Missouri’s defense certainly looked the part against Louisiana Tech, but against Kansas State is a whole different ball game. Meanwhile, K-State will want to stuff the Missouri run game, which was effective last week.

  • UTSA at Army (12 p.m. on CBS Sports Network)

This should be a fun game, as both teams are coming in after tough losses to very good teams. Army was a 38-28 victim of Coastal Carolina last Saturday, while UTSA lost in three overtimes to American conference favorite Houston. Both of the teams have pretty stout defenses, and this could go down to the bitter end.
