Texas football has a legit defense

The biggest reason many expected Alabama to roll over Texas on Saturday was the defense. It was a huge issue for the Longhorns last season, yet that wasn’t the case on Saturday.

Alabama only had 10 points going into the fourth quarter and Bryce Young had to put together a stellar finish in the fourth quarter to get the win. Even then, he still had just 213 yards on 39 attempts.

Alabama trailed by two points with less than two minutes to go, but in Heisman fashion, Young drove the Tide down for an easy field goal.

Yes, the defense gave up as many points in the fourth as it did throughout the game, but you have to know your opponent and this loss is the on the offense. If you told the Longhorns that Alabama was going to only score 20 points going in, they would have loved their chances.

And if anything should give the Longhorns hope of winning the Big 12 this season, it’s the defensive performance we saw on Saturday.
