The quarterback position is a problem

Tyler Buchner got hurt with a few minutes left in the fourth quarter and left the game but the results before that weren’t very good.

The former top-100 recruit was handed the reins to the offense this season and through two games, he doesn’t have a single touchdown pass and he’s thrown two interceptions. He rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown but still has just 62 yards in two games.

He also threw the ball 32 times against Marshall and averaged just over six yards per carry. The Irish nearly got back in it thanks to a late touchdown drive by Drew Pyne even though he was just 3-of-6 for 20 yards and a touchdown.

Scoring just 36 points in two games isn’t enough. Buchner was supposed to be an upgrade over Jack Coan but so far, he hasn’t lived up to expectations and you wonder how long it will be before a quarterback controversy starts brewing.
