College Football: 5 things I’m excited to watch in Week 2
1. What will Anthony Richardson have for an encore?
In Florida’s thrilling win over Utah in Week 1, quarterback Anthony Richardson couldn’t have put on a better performance. While throwing for only 168 yards, he had over 100 rushing yards with three touchdowns.
While the Utah win was a great start to the Billy Napier era in Gainesville, Florida must now take care of business over a tough Kentucky Wildcats team. After the entire country saw Richardson torch the Utes, we will see how Kentucky plans to contain him. Given Richardson’s skill as a runner, I imagine Wildcat head coach Mark Stoops will make him beat them in the air.
However, Richardson will not be the only star quarterback to take the field in Gainesville. Kentucky senior quarterback Will Levis could be a nightmare for a Gator defense that struggled at times against Utah’s offense.
This game could have major implications in the SEC East. While Georgia is rightfully viewed as the favorite to win the division, both of these teams could very well be right behind them.
The Florida Gators have become the darlings of the media over the last six days- and for good reason. Their quarterback put on one of the most dazzling performances, reminding some Gator fans of shades of Tim Tebow.
We will find out how good this team really is on Saturday night.
