Georgia Southern at Nebraska (-23)

The loss on Saturday by Nebraska football to Georgia Southern was one of the worst in the history of the program.

It wasn’t just that Nebraska football was favored by 23 points, but the Huskers gave up 652 yards, which is more than any other game ever at Lincoln Memorial Stadium. Nebraska had also never scored 35 points at home and lost a game.

On Saturday, the Huskers scored 42 and lost. A game-tying field goal missed wide to the left as time expired and that was the end of the Scott Frost era.

That’s a good thing for Nebraska football but this upset was still a surprise. It wasn’t shocking to see Nebraska lose a game it shouldn’t win, just that it was Clay Helton who delivered the death blow to Frost’s career.

That I didn’t see coming. But as I said on Saturday, college football never disappoints. There’s a reason we all watch from morning till midnight each Saturday.
