Sugar Bowl: Georgia v Texas

No changes this week in a rematch of the 2019 Sugar Bowl.

While the Bulldogs looked incredible so far for two weeks, and are deserving of the top-ranked title, I continue to stand firm in my belief that Georgia will end up on the outside looking in on the College Football Playoff.

The Georgia defense continues to overwhelm opponents, having yet to give up a touchdown this season, while the offense continues to methodically tear defenses apart.

The one question mark I have for the team so far is what’s the deal with tight end Arik Gilbert. The transfer from LSU looked like a top-10 pick in Georgia’s spring game and has yet to touch the football this season. Yes, the talent is deep at the tight end position in Athens, but Gilbert should be an x-factor in this offense, not a bench warmer.

While the Texas Longhorns may have run out of time in their epic matchup with Alabama, they may win the war in their slow return back to prominence.

Sark showed the Texas faithful that he’s slowly building this thing back up. The defense was impressive, and even with the unfortunate injury to QB Quinn Ewers, Hudson Card almost beat out Ewers for the job before the season. I expect the Longhorns to remain in the Big 12 Championship hunt.

As we mentioned last week, this matchup would be a big deal to the people of Austin, but what about those in Athens?
