SEC Football Power Rankings: Kentucky, Tennessee on the rise after big wins in Week 2
By Kathryn Rose
The Razorbacks showed themselves to be a very good football team, shooting past the South Carolina Gamecocks by a score of 44-30 on Saturday.
Both KJ Jefferson and Rocket Sanders had amazing games. Jefferson threw for 162 yards and added 67 more on the ground. Meanwhile, Sanders ran for a career-high 156 yards as Arkansas was able to mash the Gamecocks on the ground.
On defense, Drew Sanders was a menace. Sanders, an Alabama transfer, led the team with 11 tackles, along with two sacks and three tackles for loss.
It’s hard to get a feel for the Ole Miss Rebels. They’ve played a decent Sun Belt team in Troy, followed by FCS Central Arkansas. Of course, they had little trouble in both of those games – and likely won’t have much trouble with Georgia Tech either – but there’s little to go by.
Still, though, Jaxson Dart has played well for the Rebels, and Quinshon Judkins, along with Zach Evans, have formed a potent rushing attack to start the season.
It’s not that A&M played badly against Appalachian State. After all, in both yards per pass and yards per rush, the Aggies were better than the Mountaineers.
It’s just that they didn’t have the ball much at all. The A&M defense played well, except during third and fourth downs, where Appalachian State was a combined 12 for 25. Meanwhile, A&M was just 2 of 8 in the same stat line.
Texas A&M will need to shape up quickly because Miami’s coming to town for a night contest that could determine the true course of the Aggie season.
