The Gophers Defense was dominant again

The Gophers’ defense looked great once again today. Entering today’s game, the Gophers led the nation in yards allowed per game and were second in points allowed per game. Those rankings shouldn’t change much after another great performance from the defense again today.

The Gophers finished the day allowing just 226 total yards and only14 first downs. In the first half, the Gophers’ defense held Colorado to just 25 total yards, before pulling a number of their starters for the second half. Safety Michael Dixon was all over the field and broke up a plethora of passes. Captain, and middle linebacker, Mariano Sori-Marin was great again clogging up the middle of the field.

The Minnesota football secondary was glued to Colorado receiving options all game long. There were multiple instances in which the Gophers blitzed 6 and failed to reach the quarterback, but the defensive backs still did not allow a pass-catching option to get open.

This defense will be put to a much tougher test next weekend as Minnesota football will travel to East Lansing to take on Michigan State.
