College Football Week 3 losers

Let’s dive into this week’s losers.

Loser: Auburn Tigers

The Auburn football team is not in a good place after suffering a 41-12 loss at home to No. 22 Penn State in Week 3.

The Nittany Lions used a balanced attack (232 passing yards, 245 rushing yards) to steamroll and embarrass Auburn in front of a sold-out crowd at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The fact that they couldn’t get anything going against Penn State and mustered just one touchdown is extremely concerning.

The Tigers have now lost six of their last eight games dating back to last season and things aren’t going to get any easier now that they’re entering their conference schedule.

Head Coach Bryan Harsin’s seat is going to start getting hot if he can’t put together some decent wins once their SEC slate begins next week vs Missouri.

Loser: Bobby Petrino

Bobby Petrino, current head coach of Missouri State, had a made-for-tv revenge storyline all laid out and nearly implemented to perfection this week.

Petrino, who served as the head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks from 2008-2011, had a chance to beat his old team when his Bears marched into Fayetteville as 25-point underdogs against No. 10 Arkansas.

Missouri State came out firing on all cylinders and really took it to the Razorbacks. In fact, Arkansas seemed unprepared and uninterested in playing. The Bears took advantage of the lackadaisical attitude and had control for the first 52 minutes of the ball game.

The Razorbacks piled on 21 fourth-quarter points to avoid the shocking upset and robbed Petrino of having the last laugh in his strange, tangled history with Arkansas.
