1. C.J. Stroud

The bottom line is that C.J. Stroud has work to do to if he wants to win the Heisman Trophy but he’s been a little more consistent than Caleb Williams and his numbers are a little more eye-popping. Plus he beat Notre Dame on national TV which never hurts.

Stroud really put up spectacular numbers all of last season, but he only threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns against Notre Dame. That might seem OK.

However, we are used to seeing Stroud throw for over 300 yards with ease, which he has done the past two weeks against Arkansas State and Toledo. Those are all solid programs and Stroud has been without his No. 1 wideout, and is still averaging 11 yards per pass attempt and has 11 total touchdowns.

It’s been impressive but Wisconsin is up next for the Buckeyes and the Badgers tend to be pretty stingy when it comes to allowing points. Ohio State should have the edge though, especially at the receiver (hello, Marvin Harrison Jr.) and Stroud can really take control of this race with one of his patented performances of 300-some yards and 4-5 touchdowns.

It’s asking a lot. But this offense also had nearly 800 yards last week, so it’s capable of doing some incredible things.
