How Nebraska football has fallen

Maybe this shouldn’t be a surprise, but I don’t know many followers of college football who expected Nebraska football to be this bad in 2022.

Under Scott Frost and Mike Riley, the Huskers have had five losing seasons in a row, but Nebraska looked more competitive last season, and with a revamped coaching staff and the addition of QB Casey Thompson in the transfer portal, a bowl game seemed reasonable.

Instead, Frost didn’t last longer than three games. He was fired after an embarrassing home loss to Georgia Southern, in which the Huskers allowed 45 points and 652 yards of offense.

Last week, many, including me, expected Nebraska to be competitive against Oklahoma. However, the Sooners beat Nebraska like they were the JV in a 49-14 win.

It was sad to see and the fall of Nebraska is one of the biggest surprises. The fact that Frost was fired isn’t necessarily shocking, but the reality of where Nebraska is right now surely is. That’s why the next hire is so important.
