5 biggest surprises so far in 2022 college football season
Florida State looks like Florida State
It shouldn’t be a shock that Florida State football is 3-0. Yet, with the way the Mike Norvell era was headed, many expected the Seminoles to stumble out of the gates and for the former Memphis head coach to get his walking papers.
Hell, Deion Sanders has been tearing it up at Jackson State and if Norvell failed, letting him go and making a run at Prime makes perfect sense.
Only Norvell had other ideas. Florida State football was solid against an FCS opponent in Week 0 but beat LSU in New Orleans during Week 1 and the defense looked like an FSU defense.
Last week, the Noles gave up 31 points to Louisville and QB Jordan Travis got hurt. However, the Noles won 35-31, and with Boston College coming to town, Florida State has a chance to make a statement in some ways.
Not with a win over the Eagles, but NC State and Wake Forest are on tap for the next two weeks if FSU can beat the Eagles and win one of those next two games, they would be 5-1, and Florida State football fans could finally feel like some progress is being made.
And the fact this hasn’t gone the other direction, as so many predicted it would, is another big surprise early in the 2022 college football season.
