Pac-12 Power Rankings Week 3: Huskies and Ducks dominate at home
By Dante Pryor
6. #13 Utah Utes (2-1)
The Utes have shown they are more than over their opening season loss to the Florida Gators. They dominated FCS South Utah and San Diego State. The defense looks like a vintage Kyle Whittingham defense this season and could be the most formidable opponent to #7 USC.
The Utes open with Arizona State in Tempe before hosting an underrated Oregon State team on Oct 1 1.
5. Arizona Wildcats (2-1)
The Wildcats are another pleasant surprise of the early college football season. Second-year head coach Jedd Fisch had Arizona playing hard last season, which has yielded great dividends this season. Quarterback Jayden de Lauria has solidified the quarterback position, and the defense is playing better.
Their conference opener against California should be a good game to test how good their offense is against one of the better defenses in the Pac-12.
4. #15 Oregon Ducks (2-1)
The Ducks were obliterated in its season opener against the #1 Georgia Bulldogs. They’ve since taken their frustrations out on Eastern Washington and #12 BYU. First-year head coach Dan Lanning has the Ducks playing well, and quarterback Bo Nix was outstanding against the Cougars.
Oregon travels to the Palouse to take on the Washington State Cougars in its conference opener. That game will let us know how legit Wazzu is and how good Oregon’s defense is.
