College Football picks, predictions Week 4: Can Vols finally beat Florida?
No. 15 Oregon at Washington State (4 PM on FOX)
Prediction: No. 15 Oregon, fresh off a big win over No. 12 BYU heads to Pullman, Wa. to face the Washington State Cougars, a place that’s really tough to get a win. In fact, the Ducks are 1-2 in their last three trips to Pullman. Both of these teams are red-hot after getting wins against ranked teams in the past couple of weeks. I think Washington State may pull off the upset here, but it’ll be a shootout. These two teams have combined to score 58 or more points in each of their last three meetings.
Pick: Over 57.5
Georgia Tech at UCF (4 PM on ESPNU)
Prediction: The UCF Knights were one of the Group of 5 teams to keep an eye on this season and for the most part, they’ve delivered. They had a rare home loss vs ACC foe Louisville in Week 2— their first loss at the Bounce House since Nov. 21, 2020. The Knights have a chance to rectify that when they host another ACC foe Georgia Tech. UCF crushed the Yellow Jackets by 28 when they met in 2020. Would another loss to a Group of 5 team be the final straw for Georgia Tech Head Coach Geoff Collins? They’ll be a ton of points scored in this game and you should expect the Knights to rack up a ton of yards on the porous Yellow Jackets defense.
Pick: Over 56.5
No. 10 Arkansas at No. 23 Texas A&M in Dallas, Texas (7 PM on ESPN)
Prediction: What a wake-up call for the Arkansas Razorbacks last week when Bobby Petrino very nearly got his revenge when his Missouri State Bears enjoyed a 27-17 lead with about 12 minutes left in the ball game. The Hogs had to rattle off 21 consecutive points to pull away and avoid being upset by an FCS team. Now that they’ve gone through a little adversity and have had a little time to get acclimated to a few new players who have had to step up on defense due to injuries, Arkansas should be humming on both sides of the football when they take on Texas A&M at AT&T Stadium in Dallas this week. The Aggies are favored to win this game, but Arkansas is averaging nearly 250 yards per game passing and running the ball. A&M won’t be able to keep up, even though they’re only giving up 8.7 points per game. Hogs win this one for the second year in a row.
Pick: Arkansas +114
