College Football Week 4 winners, losers: Harsin survives, MSU humbled
College Football Week 4 Loser: Michigan State Spartans
What’s going on in East Lansing? The Spartans got smoked by Washington last week on the road and this week, they suffered a 27-point beat down at home against Minnesota.
Michigan State didn’t get a touchdown until garbage time—when the Gophers were up 34-0 with 17 seconds left in the game.
Surrendering a quick 17-0 lead to Minnesota, committing three turnovers, and having a lackluster offense created a perfect storm for the near shutout.
Things aren’t going to get any easier for MSU as they have a game next week against Maryland, who pushed No. 4 Michigan to their limit in a 34-27 loss.
College Football Week 4 Winner: Clemson QB D.J. Uiagalelei
D.J. Uiagalelei was simply outstanding the Clemson this week and a big reason why they were able to outlast Sam Hartman and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons 51-45 in double overtime.
The junior quarterback finished the game 26/41 for 371 yards, 5 TD, and 0 INT. He also added 14 carries for 52 yards.
This was Uiagalelei’s best game in years. It’s the most he’s passed in a single game since he threw 439 yards against No. 4 Notre Dame in November 2020 (double overtime loss). If Uiagalelei continues to play like he did against Wake Forest, they’ll be a heavy favorite to return to the College Football Playoff this season.
