Tanner Morgan looked composed and in control all game long on Saturday afternoon. Morgan threw for 268 yards and completed 23 of 26 passing attempts to go along with three passing touchdowns.
Morgan was confident in the pocket, consistently going through his progressions and finding the open receiver. In the few instances Gophers receivers failed to get open, Tanner did a great job at recognizing it, tucking the ball, and getting positive yards using his legs. Morgan finished the day with 27 yards on the ground over three attempts.
The most impressive part of Tanner Morgan’s stat-stuffing day was during the Gopher’s second possession in the first quarter. The Gophers were facing a 3rd and 12 on Michigan State’s 38-yard line. Morgan went through his progressions without finding an open target before preceding to take off and pick up 15 yards on the ground. On the very next play, Morgan completed a 23-yard touchdown pass to Daniel Jackson to put the Gophers up 14-0.
