Orange Bowl

NC State v Penn State

Previous: Miami v Penn State.

The Hurricanes appear to not be back as quickly as Mario Cristobal had hoped, with his team losing decisively to Middle Tennessee State. Out are the Canes, and in are the Wolfpack for NC State.

NC State, after surviving their week one scare against East Carolina, has looked the part of a NY6 team.  Their defense has given up just 9 points per game since week one, and senior quarterback Devin Leary has been fantastic so far, completing 64% of his throws and has a 9-2 TD to INT ratio so far.

The Wolfpack will take on their biggest challenge this week when they head to Clemson in what may essentially end up as the Atlantic Division championship for the ACC. A win, and we can start having real conversations about NC State and the CFP. Even with a loss, their schedule looks manageable. An Orange Bowl appearance would be one of the biggest bowls in the program’s history.

Meeting the Wolfpack in Miami are the Nittany Lions of Penn State.

After one week on the NY6 slate, the Spartans fell hard in their first real challenge at Washington. One of the toughest places to play in the country, UW is going through a resurgence as Michael Penix Jr torched an MSU defense for 39 points. As one Big Ten team falls, another rises to take their place. Welcome to the Orange Bowl, Penn State.

Penn State showed no hangover from their win at Auburn, cruising past Central Michigan 33-14. Penn State hosts Northwestern this week before a bye. After that, they’re looking at one of the toughest three-week stretches, traveling to Michigan, before hosting Minnesota and the Buckeyes. We’ll get a great look at how special this season can be for them, but for now, we have them partying in South Beach.
