Michigan Football: 3 Takeaways from road win against Iowa
By Dante Pryor
1. What’s next for Iowa?
It is no stretch to think Kirk Ferentz must address the offense. Can he fire his son? Brian Ferentz looks overwhelmed as offensive coordinator. The elder Ferentz might not fire his son, but he needs to do something to get the football in the endzone. Iowa is wasting a championship-level defense with its horrendous offense.
Things get no easier for the Hawkeyes as they take on the Illinois Fighting Illini next weekend. Head coach Bret Bielema has the Illini playing their best football in a long time. Illinois handed it to Wisconsin this afternoon with a 31-10 win.
2. What’s next for Michigan?
This win was critical for the Wolverines. Michigan did not play a challenging non-conference schedule and needed to prove they were the real deal. The Wolverines had not played Iowa well through the years, and their last trip to Kinnick ranked in the top five, they lost. Harbaugh and the Wolverines expect their game against Ohio State to be the de facto Big Ten Championship game.
For that to happen, Michigan has to win games like these.
The Wolverines clash with Big Ten East rival Indiana ahead of its big game against Penn State in the Big House on October 15.
