Clemson Football: Three takeaways from home win against NC State

2. The Tigers were patient in a physical game.
Dabo Swinney knew this would be a physical game, and points would be a premium. North Carolina State is too good a defense to score a load of points against. The game started slow, with the Tigers taking a 13-10 lead into the locker room at halftime. Clemson kept plugging away and building on their information.
Offensively, North Carolina State could not consistently sustain drives against Clemson’s defense which was a change for the Tigers’ D. The Wake Forest Demon Deacons torched the Tigers’ defense for 447 yards. The secondary showed up tonight against the Wolfpack, limiting the NC State passing game.
Clemson’s offensive and defensive lines did a great job in this game. North Carolina State could not run and could not stop the run in critical situations. Uiagalelei was a plus in the run game, which made it difficult for NC State to defend the senior quarterback was not flashy but made some key runs, including a nine-yard run to ice the game in the fourth quarter.
Clemson did not take unnecessary risks and played field position very well, forcing the Wolfpack to drive the field’s length.
