Winner: Purdue Boilermakers

The Purdue Boilermakers had the very difficult challenge of going into Minneapolis to take on the red-hot Minnesota Golden Gophers in a huge Big Ten football matchup. Perhaps the matchup was a little easier with Minnesota star running back Mohamed Ibrahim out due to an ankle injury.

Ibrahim has been cited as one of the best running backs in all of college football this season, so his absence was something the Gophers struggled with clearly, mustering just one touchdown all afternoon, which came midway through the third quarter.

Despite recording three turnovers, Purdue was able to hang on thanks to their dependable ground game that churned out 160 rushing yards and two touchdowns, which proved to be the difference against the Gophers.

With the Boilermakers only losing to Penn State by just four points and Syracuse by three, this Purdue team is just a couple of possessions away from being undefeated.

Winner: UCLA Bruins

Don’t look now, but Chip Kelly’s UCLA Bruins are 5-0 after upsetting No. 15 Washington during a weekday home game. Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. tried to put the Huskies on his back with a 345-yard, 4TD performance, but the Bruins’ offense was humming this week.

QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson threw for 315 yards and 3 TD, plus he ran for 53 yards and another touchdown. He got some help from RB Zach Charbonnet and WR Jake Bobo, who each finished the game with season-best type performances. Charbonnet Ran for 124 yards and a touchdown, while Bob reeled in six passes for 142 yards and 2 TD.

We’ll find out if these Bruins are for real after taking on No. 12 Utah next week and No. 13 Oregon after a bye week on Oct. 22.
