Ranking College Football Week 5 upsets: Texas A&M and OU falter again
2. Illinois at Wisconsin (-6.5)
This was another shocker from College Football Week 5 and just not because of the result. It was surprising how it happened.
We saw Washington State go to Madison and bet the Badgers 17-14 earlier this season. They were tougher than Wisconsin and Illinois was too. The Fighting Illini ran for 143 yards and the Badgers had no answer for Chase Brown who had 25 carries for 129 yards and two scores.
Tommy DeVito was also smart with the football and completed 18-of-24 passes for 167 yards. He took a few sacks but had zero turnovers in a 34-10 win.
On the Wisconsin side, Graham Mertz continued to struggle and completed just 17-of-32 passes for 121 yards and two interceptions. Wisconsin finished with just two rushing yards and 208 total.
It’s hard to win football games that way and that’s the reason that Paul Chryst is no longer the head coach. Jim Leonhard has a good chance to be the guy next, however, there are some other quality candidates too.
