New No. 1

Surprise surprise, can we guess who the top-ranked college football team in the country is? Alabama is back on top, thanks to an upset scare in the Missouri vs Georgia game.

Thanks to an incredible fourth-quarter performance, Georgia was able to come back and eliminate any upset dreams Missouri had. Although Georgia was without starter Javon Bullard on defense, Missouri seemingly had no issues moving the ball in the first half. Staying with that same theme, the Missouri defense was able to hold Georgia to six points in the first half.

George made some fantastic second-half adjustments, or just woke up, to turn the tides and finish this game on top. Does this tell us that Georgia is a bad football team? Absolutely not. They are an incredibly talented football team, and will most likely bounce back next week. However, Georgia has some issues to iron out before they play the bulk of their schedule.

$15 Millon Buyout not stopping Wisconsin

Although it may be a move fueled by boosters, the Wisconsin Badgers decided to fire Paul Chryst and pay him $15 million instead of letting him finish the year. After a career record of 67-26 (72% win percentage) at Wisconsin, this left a lot of people scratching their heads.

This is almost certainly because Wisconsin does not want Defensive Coordinator Jim Leonhard to leave. This gives me the same feeling as Nebraska firing Bo Pelini after having a career record of 58-24. I sure hope this isn’t a foreshadowing of what is to come at Wisconsin, but only time will tell. Either way, this was the surprise of the week for me.
