Pac-12 football power rankings: UCLA making huge moves
By Dante Pryor
3. No. 18 UCLA (5-0, 2-0)
If anyone had questions about the Bruins’ legitimacy, they shut a lot of mouths with their 40-32 win against Washington in the Rose Bowl. Quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson is playing his best football, and running back Zach Charbonnet is running all over everyone. Head coach Chip Kelly has this team playing good football early in the season.
UCLA gets tested this weekend when they host No. 11 Utah at the Rose Bowl before their bye week.
2. No. 11 Utah (4-1, 2-0)
Speaking of those Utes, they put the Wood to Oregon State 42-16. Their game against the Bruins is a clash of styles which often makes for a good game. When you talk about a Kyle Whittingham-coached team, you talk defense and a solid running game. Can Utah neutralize UCLA’s high-powered offense?
If the Utes want to win this game, they must force the Bruins to be one-dimensional. Utah is also going to need quarterback Cameron Rising to play huge as well.
1. No. 6 USC (5-0, 3-0)
Rev said in the movie Remember the Titans, “These guys ain’t got no heart. If we play like this against Groverton, we’re going down.” The Trojans should have felt that way in their 42-25 win against Arizona State. USC had just a four-point lead at halftime before pulling away. The Trojans cannot play that way against its next two opponents.
It could lose one or both of those games if the Trojans play that way against Washington State or No. 11 Utah.
