5. Baylor Bears (3-2, 1-1)
The Bears lost a challenging game against Oklahoma State last weekend and look to rebound against West Virginia. Their loss against the Pokes reveals that the Bears’ offense is not built to come from behind. The defense has to limit big plays and get off the field on third downs. They should have a few issues with this against West Virginia.
4. #7 Oklahoma State Cowboys (4-0, 1-0)
Everyone in the Big 12 and the country wants to find out if the Cowboys are the real deal or not. The ‘Pokes reminded the college football world last week they were the ones that played for the Big 12 championship last year and got their win back against Baylor. Oklahoma State has another test against Texas Tech in Stillwater.
3. #17 TCU Horned Frogs (4-0, 1-0)
The Horned Frogs were impressive in their 55-24 drubbing of the Oklahoma Sooners last week. The resurgence of their offense under Sonny Dykes has been one of the pleasant surprises of the college football season after a stagnant offense the last few seasons. The Frogs play in the game of the week against the newly-ranked Kansas Jayhawks.
2. #20 Kansas State Wildcats (4-1, 2-0)
Adrian Martinez’s performance against the Texas Tech Red Raiders was what Wildcats fans have been waiting for all season long. The Nebraska transfer had 287 total yards and four touchdowns. He and Deuce Vaughn combined for over 240 rushing yards. Iowa State has a tall task in slowing that rushing attack.
1. #19 Kansas Jayhawks (5-0, 2-0)
After winning several high-scoring games, the Jayhawks proved they can win ugly in its 14-11 win against Iowa State. There is some concern about the defense, especially this weekend against TCU. The Horned Frogs can score. Will TCU hand the Jayhawks its first loss of the season?
