College Football Week 6: Predicting top 5 games against the spread
Texas A&M at No. 1 Alabama (-24) (8 EST, CBS)
It was reported earlier on Friday that Alabama was going to be without starting quarterback Bryce young who hurt his shoulder last week. This is according to Aaron Wilson of the Pro Football Network.
That’s a big loss for Alabama but Texas A&M football is also going to be without its preferred starting quarterback Max Johnson. It seems like we’ll see Haynes King get the start, but it would be interesting to see what Conner Weigman could do at some point.
It’s a tough situation for Texas A&M, there’s no doubt. Jimbo Fisher and Nick Saban also had their spat this summer, which makes you think Nick Saban has been looking forward to this matchup.
Jalen Milroe was solid enough to salt away a win on the road against Arkansas and he’s got four touchdown passes this season. The other good news is that Jahmyr Gibbs isn’t hurt and he’s averaging 8.8 yards per carry.
I expect Gibbs to have a big night and Alabama to win going away. However, it will be closer than the odds say and the Aggies will “only” lose by 22.
Score: Alabama 42, Texas A&M 20
