What’s next for Maryland?

Terrapins head coach Mike Locksley cannot be happy about how his team lost this game. The referees missed the offsides calls against Cam Allen. However, Purdue turns the football over on its first three possessions, and the Terrapins cannot score. One of the reasons Maryland did not cut on those turnovers was drive-altering penalties.

Coach Locksley has to address those issues. The Terps also struggled to run the football in this game as well. Both problems need to get fixed before they travel to Bloomington to take on the Indiana Hoosiers.

What’s next for the Boilermakers?

Head coach Jeff Brohm is happy to win, but he knows the Boilermakers have not played their best football in the last two weeks. Maryland’s penalties helped Purdue, especially early in the second half. Purdue’s three turnovers happened on consecutive drives. They were fortunate the Terrapins shot themselves in the foot on those drives.

Brohm would also like to play complimentary football as they did against Minnesota. Purdue struggled to run the football, rushing for 13 yards on 34 carries. The running game helps the passing game without an explosive playmaker this season. The Boilermakers host Nebraska next weekend.
