Big Ten football power rankings, Week 7: Purdue chugging along

Michigan was not itself for much of the first half Saturday against Indiana. They certainly were out of sorts after running backs coach Mike Hart collapsed on the sideline and had to be taken to the hospital. However, the Wolverines finally pulled it together and got the 31-10 victory.
Despite Blake Corum’s 124 yards on the ground, the Wolverine rushing attack was mostly held in check by a depleted Indiana defense. The Wolverines will need to get some things cleaned up before their top-10 clash with Penn State next Saturday.
Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud made an early mistake in their game against Michigan State, throwing an interception that was returned 32 yards for a touchdown. After that, it was smooth sailing as the Buckeyes trounced the Spartans.
Stroud atoned for his mistake, throwing six total touchdowns. The Buckeye offense stymied the Spartan offense, only allowing 202 total yards with seven yards allowed on the ground. This Buckeye defense has not been truly challenged yet but they are doing exactly what they should be doing to overmatched offenses. Plus they are gaining momentum for the challenges that lie ahead.
The Buckeyes now get a bye week to gear up for the second half of the season. They likely will face very little resistance against Iowa in two weeks but a matchup at Penn State looms at the end of October.
