Rose Bowl

Oregon v Michigan

For the third straight week, we hold firm on our projection for the 109th Rose Bowl Game.

Head coach Dan Lanning and his 10th-ranked Oregon Ducks enjoyed a bye week that will now see them and UCLA do battle on College GameDay in Eugene.

A battle between two top-10 squads, the winner likely becoming the PAC-12’s best chance at making the playoffs, and the frontrunner for representing the conference in the Rose Bowl. I like the Ducks to prevail in Chip Kelly’s return to Autzen.

Ever since their brutal beat down in week one to Georgia, the Ducks have overwhelmed their opponents. After a dominant win against ranked BYU and a tough road win over a really underrated Washington State team, the Ducks have their remaining big-time games all at home at the Zoo.

The Ducks may end up being the first team to ever get beat by 46 points, and still end up in the Rose Bowl.

The Michigan Wolverines made a statement this weekend, overwhelming a good Penn State team 41-17. The game felt like a cat toying with a mouse, as Michigan let Penn State hang around until they put their foot on the pedal and just destroyed the Nittany Lions in the trenches.

Michigan held the Lions to under 300 total yards while amassing 560 yards of total offense, including over 400 on the ground.

The defense did its part, and Blake Corum continued his Heisman campaign, but his backup Donovan Edwards stole the show, running for 176 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 16 carries.

The battle against Penn State was not the challenge we all envisioned, and it almost seems that it’s just a waiting game for Michigan and Ohio State.

Here, we are projecting the Wolverines to fall short in the Big Game, but make their way to the Rose Bowl. Does Harbaugh finally get the big bowl win, or does Oregon finish strong?
