Odds, predictions and upset alert for College Football Week 8
No. 20 Texas (-6.5) at No. 12 Oklahoma State
Texas has been a different football team when Quinn Ewers is playing quarterback and if he didn’t get hurt in that Alabama game and also miss the close loss to Texas Tech, the longhorns could easily be 7-0 right now.
I know that’s a huge what if but the way Ewers was torching Alabama before he had to leave, leads me to believe Texas would have scored enough to win that game.
At any rate, since the Oklahoma win, Texas has a legit shot of getting to the Big 12 title game. That Tech loss isn’t going to hurt when it comes to tiebreakers and the main contenders are Kansas State and TCU — two teams that also meet in College Football Week 8.
Oklahoma State also has just one loss and can re-emerge with a win. They nearly beat TCU last week on the road and lost in double overtime. Spencer Sanders has struggled a bit and is completing just 58 percent of his passes.
Texas has the No. 21 scoring defense in all of college football and one of the best defenses in the Big 12. I also worry about Oklahoma State being able to stop Bijan Robinson. The Cowboys are allowing 3.7 yards per rushing attempt and Bijan who averages 5.7, should be able to take advantage of that. Plus I don’t see Oklahoma State stopping Ewers and Xavier Worthy.
The Horns win and I’m going to say they cover in the process.
Score: Texas 42, Ok State 31
