2. Texas Lives and Dies by Quinn Ewers

Quinn Ewers has had games where he’s on. From the beginning of the Alabama game where he carved up the Crimson Tide until he got hurt, to a four-touchdown performance in the Longhorn’s rout over Oklahoma.

We’ve seen Texas struggle without him, from an out-of-sync offense after he came out against Alabama, to the Longhorns’ loss against Texas Tech.

Against Oklahoma State, Ewers had his moments, and was able to piece together solid drives that resulted in points. Overall, though, it was a rough day for Ewers. He completed 19 of his 49 passes, just 39%, and threw three interceptions, including one on Texas’ final drive to end it. Many of his throws were off, and while some were off by just a hair, the result was the same.

Texas has elite weapons on offense, from running back Bijan Robinson to wide receiver Xavier Worthy. When Quinn Ewers plays up to his potential, Texas can hang with anyone. Ewers was far from his best today though, and it cost the Longhorns.
