2. Missouri at #25 South Carolina

4 pm, SEC Network

After a few early season losses, South Carolina has really come on late. From a blowout over SC State to a great road win over Kentucky, to making Texas A&M boosters double-check Jimbo Fisher’s buyout on Saturday.

The hype has largely died down around Spencer Rattler, who’s been good enough to win games but not much more. The real spark from this team has come from running back MarShawn Lloyd, who has scored seven touchdowns in the last four weeks. While probably not a guy who’s going to be up for numerous awards, Lloyd has given the Gamecocks’ offense life for the past month and has them in a good spot nearing the end of October.

Lloyd and the rest of the South Carolina offense will face quite the test against Missouri. South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer described the Tigers’ D as “lights out”, and it’s easy to see why.

While largely underrated this year at the national level, they’ve had impressive performances. 26 points were allowed against #1 Georgia, an upset they almost pulled. 24 against an explosive Florida offense. They are averaging 20.25 points given up per game in SEC play, which is pretty solid given the high-caliber offenses the league possesses.

If the Tigers can stop Lloyd and force a mistake-prone Spencer Rattler into poor play, Missouri could get the upset win they’ve been inches from a few times already this season. This could be a very interesting game on Saturday.
