Big 12 Power Rankings: #7 TCU alone in first place
By Dante Pryor
5. Texas Longhorns (5-3, 3-2)
Something happened to the Longhorns last week against Oklahoma State no one expected, Quinn Ewers played like a freshman. He was inaccurate and had difficulty throwing in the wind in Stillwater. That said, Ewers was not the one that allowed 41 points against the ‘Pokes. The Longhorns are off this week ahead of their game against Kansas State.
4. Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-3, 2-2)
The Red Raiders might be the chaos team of Big 12 football. The Red Raiders can score with anyone in the conference, and they can score with three different quarterbacks. Baylor had better be ready to cover Tech’s receivers from sideline to sideline. Baylor is susceptible to the big play and Texas Tech can hit them.
3. Kansas Wildcats (5-2, 3-1)
The Wildcats lost a tough game to TCU after losing their top two quarterbacks, Adrian Martinez and Will Howard, in the game. Both quarterbacks played well with Howard being a pleasant surprise with how well he played. That said, Martinez is a game-time decision against Oklahoma State with Howard ready to play if needed.
2. Oklahoma State Cowboys (6-1, 3-1)
The Cowboys are making sure that everyone knows they are a contender in the Big 12. Spencer Sanders is not 100% and he has played gutsy football the last two weeks. The Pokes need his best in order to beat the best defense they’ve seen all season in Kansas State.
1. Texas Christian Horned Frogs (7-0, 4-0)
The Horned Frogs stand alone atop the Big 12 rankings. This is the Big 12, however. There is a reason they are only a 7.5-point favorite (according to Fan Duel) in Morgantown. Every game left on its schedule is winnable and they’ve proven they can come back and win after slow starts. The issue is they’ve started slowly in several games.
