4. Michigan Wolverines (8-0)

Michigan handled its business against rival Michigan State on Saturday night in one of those games in which records don’t usually matter.

The Wolverines were down 7-3 after the first quarter and then scored 26 straight points to win 29-7 and bring the Paul Bunyan Trophy back to Ann Arbor. It was Jim Harbaugh’s first win over Mel Tucker and his team asserted its dominance over yet another Big Ten opponent.

Plus, they did that thing where they play a team close for a half and then just pull away in the second half. They were up just 13-7 over Michigan State at the half and then the second half was all Wolverines.

I see Michigan in that final playoff spot this week after improving to 8-0 and they’ll probably hover around here until they play Ohio State. A lot of people want to see if these Wolverines stack up favorably to those Buckeyes.
