Big Ten football power rankings, Week 10: Buckeyes top the Lions
By Shane Lunnen
The Wolverines snapped a two-game losing streak to their in-state rivals Saturday night at the Big House. Blake Corum was the star of the show again with 177 of those yards. Even though the offense sputtered some and had to settle for five field goals, it was still enough for a victory.
Unfortunately, the win was overshadowed by the events taking place after the game. Luckily cooler heads did prevail and it could have been worse. Michigan should have a much easier time disposing of Rutgers next Saturday in New Jersey.
The Buckeyes seemed to be out of sorts for much of their game against Penn State. Then a spark hit and they cruised to victory. That’s how good this team is as they can turn it on with the snap of a finger. A huge part of this victory was defensive end J.T. Tuimoloau, who had three tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. If not for his performance, it is quite possible the Buckeyes would have lost.
This game was certainly the most challenging game for Ohio State since their Week 1 win over Notre Dame. The Buckeyes will take a step back in competition when they travel to Northwestern this Saturday.
