2. #24 Texas at #13 Kansas State, 7 pm, FS1

After an astonishing 48-0 win over #18 Oklahoma State, Kansas State has vaulted itself right back into the discussion as a potential Big 12 champion. Their only in-conference loss thus far was on the road against unbeaten #7 TCU.

Before getting hurt, quarterback Adrian Martinez was playing great both through the air and on the ground, with 907 yards and four touchdowns passing and 565 yards and nine touchdowns rushing. After getting hurt against TCU though, backup Will Howard had to step in. He did so nicely though, especially in the Oklahoma State game, where he threw for four touchdowns of his own. Both have had their jobs made easier by running back Deuce Vaughn, who is 2nd in the Big 12 with 907 rushing yards. This is a team that can attack defenses from all angles, and, as displayed last week, is very tough to stop.

Texas is capable of stopping them though. They have the third-best defense in the Big 12, averaging just 21 points allowed per game. Linebacker Jaylan Ford has been their anchor, with a team-leading 72 tackles, a pair of sacks, and an interception on the season. Add in their offensive trio of quarterback Quinn Ewers, running back Bijan Robinson, and wide receiver Xavier Worthy, and they can play with anyone in the country.

Much of this success rides on Ewers, who’s been streaky. Struggles against Oklahoma State proved costly in Texas’ loss, however, he had the Longhorns rolling against Alabama before getting hurt. If he’s on, watch out.

Kansas State has solidly been a top-2 team in the conference this year and desperately wants a rematch against TCU for the Big 12 title though. Texas may have the highest upside in the conference though and will be a tough team to beat.
