2. Blake Corum has a Legitimate Shot at the Heisman

Coming into week 10, Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud and Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker were 1a and 1b for the Heisman.

Stroud struggled against 1-7 Northwestern, completing just 10 of 26 passes for 76 yards. Hooker played a little better against #3 Georgia, but 23-33 for 195 yards and an interception isn’t great. Blake Corum didn’t quite put up the numbers he had in previous weeks, but that came with a reduced load. With just 20 carries against Rutgers, he managed 109 yards and two touchdowns. Still quality numbers. Add on that his 5.5 yards per carry is right in line with how he’s performed in Big Ten play, and we can deduce that this was another solid game for Corum.

We are getting into crunch time for the Heisman, and this is the point in the season where the award is won or lost. Oftentimes, it comes down to who falters and who doesn’t, Stroud and Hooker were both shaky yesterday, while Corum stayed the course. While I wouldn’t put Corum in the lead yet, he’s certainly closed the gap.
