ACC Power Rankings: Are the Tar Heels a dark horse Playoff team?
By Dante Pryor
3. Florida State Seminoles (6-3, 4-3)
The Seminoles haven’t always looked pretty but have played better and better each game this season. That fact was fully displayed on Saturday as the ‘Noles obliterated the Miami Hurricanes 45-3. Miami looked disinterested at times, while Florida State looked hungry. Can we please get a trophy in the shape of the state of Florida for the season finale?
2. Clemson Tigers (8-1, 6-0)
Clemson’s margin for error has been low all season, and it caught up with them against Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish dominated Clemson 35-14 despite throwing for only 85 yards. Everything Clemson needed to do right; it did wrong. They committed two turnovers and could not get the running game going. This has happened twice. If it happens again, they’ll lose again.
1. North Carolina Tar Heels (8-1, 5-0)
Drake Maye’s Heisman candidacy was on full display against Virginia. The Cavaliers played one of its better games of the season but could not overcome Maye’s 367 total yards and three total touchdowns.
What makes Maye’s Heisman hopes interesting is that he’s the best player on the team –by far — and also its most important player. Maye has the Tar Heels on the doorstep of the ACC Championship game.
