10. West Virginia Mountaineers (3-6, 1-5)

It is hard to imagine head coach Neil Brown survives after this season. Brown is 20-24 in four seasons in Morgantown, and it does not seem like the Mountaineers will be competitive in the Big 12. Maybe he stays because he landed four-star quarterback Nicco Marchiol in 2022, but it does not look good and that’s why Mountaineers are at the bottom of the Big 12 Power Rankings.

9. Iowa State Cyclones (3-6, 1-5)

As mentioned above, the Cyclones notched their first conference win against the Mountaineers last Saturday with a resounding 31-14 victory. Iowa State needs to win out to get to a bowl game. It would be very Iowa State to run the table and get to a bowl game. Could Matt Campbell parlay a three-game winning streak into another job?

8. Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-5, 2-4)

The Red Raiders have had an up-and-down season under first-year head coach Joey Maguire. One reason for the inconsistencies has been injuries at quarterback. Texas Tech has played three quarterbacks this season. They’ve been in every game despite the injury issues. The Red Raiders have games against Kansas, Iowa State, and Oklahoma left on the schedule. Can they find two wins?

7. Oklahoma Sooners (5-4, 2-4)

It is hard to believe that the Sooners would not experience a step back with all the attrition they suffered via the transfer portal this offseason. There is a lot to be said about transitioning coaching regimes and philosophies. The Sooners need to find one more win to go bowling.

6. Oklahoma State (6-3, 3-3)

The Oklahoma State Cowboys are going through a bad beat. The ‘Pokes have so many injuries, including starting quarterback Spencer Sanders. Oklahoma State will find it difficult to win games with so many players out due to injury. It is tough just because they started so well.
