The 2024 season more than likely will be the last game in the near future between these two in-state and in-conference rivals.

When Oklahoma leaves the Big 12 to join the SEC in July of 2025, these two programs have no plans of scheduling a non-conference game between one another in football for the 2025 season and beyond. The rivalry has been a bit one-sided with Oklahoma winning a good amount of the games since 2003 but this rivalry has seen in the past decade two overtime games and five games decided by single digits.

This season has been a bit unexpected for both programs as Oklahoma has had a rollercoaster of a season winning their first three games, then losing their next three, then winning two in a row, and now they have lost their last two games heading into this game with a 5-5 record.

Oklahoma State on the other hand won their first five games and was ranked No. 8 in the nation before losing in double overtime to TCU which is currently undefeated. The Cowboys are undefeated at home but have lost three road games and have lost three of their last five games having a 7-3 record entering their contest with the Sooners.

This game will be at Oklahoma and the Sooners have played relatively well on their home field. Oklahoma State will have their starting quarterback Spencer Sanders ready to go against the Sooners but will he be 100% healthy as he did not start the Cowboys’ last game against Iowa State but did play in the game?

The Sooners on the other hand have starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel who played at UCF before transferring to Oklahoma and has experience being a senior but this will be his first game playing in this rivalry.

This game should be a close game and now let’s take a look at this rivalry.
