2022 Heisman Trophy watch: Top 5 candidates heading into Championship Week

3. Blake Corum, Michigan

Blake Corum only managed to get one carry against Ohio State due to the knee injury he suffered against Illinois.

It would be a bit much to say that injury cost Corum the Heisman Trophy because I think Williams would be hard to beat.

But imagine if Corum had ripped off a pair of 75-yard plus touchdown runs and over 200 yards on the ground that Donovan Edwards had last week. He could easily be the favorite.

Corum hasn’t been ruled out for the Big Ten championship game against Purdue but you have to wonder if the Wolverines will rest him until the playoff. A second Big Ten title means everything but Edwards is rolling and so is J.J. McCarthy.

If Corum was close to himself, I’m sure he’ll be out there but that doesn’t seem likely. However, his stellar season could still earn him a top-3 finish depending on how others perform this weekend.
