10. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (5-7, 4-4)

Georgia Tech went 4-4 with Brent Key as head coach. They might have been bowl eligible if they had played anyone else but Georgia to end the season. Give the Jackets credit; they played hard against the Bulldogs. There might be some life there after all.

We here at headquarters were stumping for Brent Key to at least get an interview for the head coaching job and earlier this week, the Yellow Jackets announced him as the new head coach. If Key can build on the momentum from 2021, brighter days could be ahead.

9. Wake Forest Demon Deacons (7-5, 3-5)

It seems as if the Demon Deacons’ outlook on the season changed when it lost to Clemson. After Wake Forest lost that game, they went 4-4 to finish the season. Sam Hartman had the worst three-game stretch of his career. It should come as no surprise the Deacons lost three straight games.

There are rumors that Hartman might transfer since the staff is ready to move forward with Mitch Griffis.

8. Syracuse Orange (7-5, 4-4)

Injuries and the schedule caught up to the Orange in the second half of the season. That said, criticism of Dino Babers not scheming a way to get the ball in Sean Tucker’s hands more often is fair. In addition, teams figured out they could just run up the middle since the Orange’s defensive front is small and they aren’t intense.

Will the Tucker/Schrader backfield return next season, or will Tucker opt for the NFL? Also, can coach Babers keep his wide receivers out of the portal?

7. Louisville Cardinals (7-5, 4-4)

The Cardinals were one of the more up-and-down teams this season. Much of that had to do with the health of quarterback Malik Cunningham. When Cunningham was healthy, the Cardinals played well and competed well in most games. The strength of this team, however, was the defense.

Will this season keep head coach Scott Satterfield off of the hot seat next season?
