Top 5 non-playoff college football bowl games in 2022-23
3. Alamo Bowl: No. 20 Washington vs No. 12Texas (Dec. 29)
This is an intriguing matchup and if you get the chance you should definitely take in the Alamo Bowl, which should easily be one of the most exciting bowl games this season.
Not only does it pair two top 25 teams, but Steve Sarkisian will face one of the schools where he was a head coach prior to being at Texas.
The extra layer of intrigue is always appreciated during bowl season. More interesting is that Texas has Quinn Ewers and Washington has Michael Penix Jr. — two of the most dynamic quarterbacks in all of college football.
Texas (8-4) is ranked 20th and is aiming for a nine-win season while the Huskers can win 11 after being the only double-digit win team from a Power-5 league to miss out on a New Year’s Six.
The Huskies have Utah to thank for that because if USC had won the Pac-12 title game, the Huskies would be headed to the Rose Bowl.
Still, a chance to win 11 games, beat Texas, and finish in the top 10 of the final AP poll should provide Washington plenty of motivation. I’m sure Husky fans would love to beat Sark too.
