4. Sugar Bowl (Kansas State vs. Alabama)

This is a New Year’s Six bowl that I think most of you would rank lower than I have, but I really think this Sugar Bowl can be fantastic.

The big question will be who is playing for Alabama and how motivated are they. While the debate was mostly manufactured by the media and those around Tuscaloosa, the Crimson Tide have to be disappointed in missing the playoff. Unlike USC, I believe players like Bryce Young and Will Anderson Jr. will choose to play, their last time wearing the Tide uniform before heading to the NFL. If they play, we will likely see the healthiest and best version of Alabama that we’ve seen this season.

One of the most surprising teams of the New Year’s Six, the Wildcats of Kansas State are in their first Sugar Bowl. Coming off a massive upset win over playoff-bound TCU, the Wildcats won the Big 12 for the first time since 2012.

The Wildcats have gone on an incredible transformation under head coach Chris Klieman, and are led by one of the smallest, yet most powerful running backs in college football, Deuce Vaughn. The star running back has over 1,800 total yards and 11 touchdowns, while Kansas State backup quarterback Will Howard has thrown for over 1,400 yards and has a 15-2 touchdown-to-interception ratio since taking over for injured starting quarterback Adrian Martinez.

Most will not give Kansas State a chance, but Nick Saban has a checkered past in the Sugar Bowl, and I think this game has all the makings of a classic.
