Grading each bowl game that includes a Floridian team

Florida State Seminoles: C-
To go from being so critical about the Las Vegas Bowl to grading the Cheez-It Bowl even lower is quite a shocking turn of events, but it just goes to show how badly Florida State was treated here.
While the 6-6 Gators are riding high with the 9-3 Beavers, FSU’s circumstances are just the opposite—the 9-3 Seminoles are stuck facing the 6-6 Oklahoma Sooners.
Normally, having the Sooners stare you in the face would result in chills shooting down your spine, as they have been one of college football’s most menacing superpowers both historically and as of late. However, OU has done nothing to deserve a matchup with Florida State this year, and the college football world has wasted no time saying so.
Over the course of their 5-game winning streak, the Seminoles became one of the most popular stories in the country, so to see their turnaround be rewarded with such a—for the lack of a better word—“lame” bowl game is rather disappointing.
Some silver lining is that facing a 6-6 Oklahoma means more than facing just about any other team in America that has that same record, as the Sooners still carry a colossal image.
Not only that, but this year’s Cheez-It Bowl will be the first bowl game of any kind that Florida State has made since 2019, so fans should at least take comfort in the fact that their boys even made it this far.
