2. This might be the best Michigan football team ever

Right now, Michigan football fans could be witnessing the most dominant team the Wolverines have ever assembled. Since 1997, Michigan football has only had two seasons that anyone considered the Wolverines to be a national title threat: 2006 and 2021.

In 2006, No. 2 Michigan lost a close game to No. 1 Ohio State in ‘The Shoe,’ which ultimately sent the Wolverines to the Rose Bowl to take on USC. Michigan went on to lose the Rose Bowl and finish the season 11-2 overall.

In 2021, Michigan football did beat Ohio State, went on to win the Big Ten Championship game vs. Iowa (42-3), and headed to the College Football Playoff. While the 2021 season was undoubtedly the closes that the Wolverines have been to a National Championship since ’97, Michigan could not overcome the Georgia Bulldogs — the eventual National Champions.

Despite the 34-11 loss to Georgia in the Orange Bowl a year ago, Michigan football responded with an even better season in 2022. The Wolverines were 12-1 a year ago, and are 13-0 right now. On top of that, Michigan beat Michigan State, Penn State, and Ohio State by over 20 points each.

So far, this season’s team has been the most dominant that we have seen come out of Ann Arbor in 25 years. In six days, Michigan football will have a shot at going 14-0 and punching its ticket to the National Championship game for the first time in program history.

If the Wolverines can manage to win two more games, the 2022 team will be remembered as the greatest Michigan football team of all time and boast a 15-0 record.
